Training can have a positive impact on the business by improving performance—and you can prove it. However, you can increase this impact by designing learning clusters and building the measures into your design. Learning Cluster Design (LCD) is the modern learning design methodology for the digital age, supporting learners when, where, and how they want and need to learn.

This interactive session shows you how to get greater confidence that your learning programs will successfully impact the business.

Objectives

After attending this session, participants should be able to:

  • Describe why learning clusters have a greater impact than traditional training methods, such as classes, courses, eLearning, blended learning, experiential learning, and virtual ILT.
  • Use the SPO process to easily kick off any training project with a measurement discussion before design even begins.
  • Draw your own Learning Cluster with Social, Formal, and Immediate learning assets.
  • Recognize the limitations of “usage measures” and identify alternatives.

Our Facilitator will be Lisa MD Owens, Dean of Learning Sciences, Emeritus Proctor & Gamble and co-creator of the OK-LCD model.

Learning expert Lisa MD Owens combines her engineering mindset with a deep interest in instructional design and learning sciences to create training that moves business forward. Lisa is the Dean of Learning Sciences, Emeritus Proctor & Gamble, author, speaker, consultant, master trainer, and learning awards judge/reviewer.

During her 30+ year career at P&G, Lisa was the leading training professional, with a broad range of cutting-edge internal programs. After retiring in 2011, Lisa partnered with Crystal Kadakia to research and solve some of the issues facing L&D in this modern age. From this research emerged the Owens-Kadakia Learning Cluster Design Model (OK-LCD), which is touted as the next evolution for the L&D industry beyond blended learning. Since 2016, OK-LCD workshops have received top reviews.

Lisa is co-author of Designing for Modern Learning: Beyond ADDIE and SAM (2020), Leaders as Teachers Action Guide, Your Career: How to Make it Happen 9th edition, and Lo Start-Up Di Una Corporate University” (Italian).

Since 2009, she annually judges for learning awards such as ATD BEST Awards and CLO ELITE.
